We understand sustainability as more than just environmental protection. For us, it stands for a responsible approach to people, resources, and the future that we are shaping together. Especially in a time when economic and social conditions are constantly changing, we are guided by clear principles: making conscious decisions, using resources respectfully, and continuously developing our working methods.
Today, it is not only the result that counts, but also the path to achieving it. That is why we continuously question our processes: Where can we become more efficient, reduce emissions, and at the same time create fair conditions? We work on these goals every day - with commitment, foresight, and the conviction that sustainable action is a central component of long-term business success.

Sustainability in our company's everyday life
For us, sustainability begins within our own company. It is a central component of our corporate culture and shapes our daily actions. Our aim is to promote people's health, minimize our impact on the environment, and contribute to a safe working environment. This philosophy is reflected not only in our products, but also in our collaboration and internal processes.At AS Arbeitsschutz, we combine quality with responsibility. Our values should be visible in all areas - from the development of our products to the way we communicate and make decisions. That is why we regularly review our processes and continuously work to make our products and processes more sustainable.
We are convinced that a sense of responsibility, high quality, and respect for the environment go hand in hand. It is precisely this understanding that forms the basis of our actions and guides us every step of the way.
Social commitment
As a company with strong regional roots, we consider it a matter of course to take responsibility - towards our employees, our business partners, and society as a whole. Our social commitment reflects what is important to us: actively providing support where concrete help is needed.We support projects in various areas such as education, health, disaster relief, and environmental initiatives that make a lasting contribution to the community. Over the past twelve years, we have donated more than €170,000. In addition, we provide targeted product donations in special situations, such as emergencies or social campaigns.
Initiatives that open up new opportunities for people and enable participation are particularly important to us - for example, campaigns such as Christmas in a Shoebox or the work of the Varius workshops. Regional reforestation projects are also part of our commitment, as we want to strengthen the local community and contribute to a healthy environment.
With Agenda 2030, the international community adopted a joint plan for the future in 2015. The 17 goals defined therein provide clear direction for what is to be achieved by 2030. They create an international framework that helps to systematically address key issues, make progress transparent, and promote sustainable development in a targeted manner.
We at AS Arbeitsschutz are also guided by these global goals. As part of our sustainability strategy, we already incorporate them into many of our considerations and measures and are working to increasingly embed their approach in our business activities.
Code of Conduct
Respectful cooperation forms the foundation of all our business relationships at AS Arbeitsschutz. With our Code of Conduct, we have created clear guidelines that promote trust, honesty, team spirit, and mutual appreciation both internally and externally. Our Code of Conduct is an integral part of every supplier agreement and clearly defines our expectations in the areas of human rights, fair working conditions, environmental protection, integrity, and corruption prevention.Our Code of Conduct is supplemented by binding standards, including the ILO core labor standards and the REACH regulation. In addition, we are guided by the amfori BSCI Code of Conduct, which reflects international due diligence standards and underlines our commitment to responsible global action. Our codes are regularly reviewed and further developed to meet growing regulatory and social requirements in the future. In this way, we create transparency, orientation, and reliability in our daily cooperation with partners around the world.
Our key sustainability issues
Sustainable action at AS Arbeitsschutz is guided by the issues that are most important to the environment, society, and our partners. This is based on our current materiality analysis, which identifies the environmental and social aspects that are particularly relevant along our supply chain. We take into account both the direct impact of our own actions and external factors such as legal requirements and market trends.The focus is on areas such as the circular economy, climate protection, product safety, fair working conditions, and responsible corporate governance. This clear prioritization allows us to target our measures where they will have the greatest positive effect. At the same time, we keep an eye on other relevant aspects and continuously develop our sustainability strategy - in a data-driven, structured manner and in line with European standards.
Sustainability Task Force
In order to systematically and effectively integrate sustainability into our everyday business, we established the Sustainability Task Force in 2021. This interdisciplinary team brings together expertise from areas such as marketing, product management, quality management, and sales - with the aim of coordinating projects, further developing measures, and consistently implementing our sustainability goals.The focus is on establishing sustainability as a cross-departmental issue: practical, forward-looking, and integrated into all company processes. This enables us to identify developments at an early stage, derive targeted measures, and achieve continuous improvements in our day-to-day work. A concrete example is our environmental guide, which was created in 2023 in collaboration with the task force. It supports our employees in using resources efficiently, designing processes more consciously, and actively living sustainability.

Circular economy
Together with GAIA circulair, we are closing the material cycle and giving PPE a second life. The innovative take-back system collects used PPE, recycles it, and returns it to the recycling cycle - conserving resources, efficiently, and without complications.Every return thus makes an active contribution to environmental protection and is another step towards a functioning circular economy.
Member of amfori BSCI
Since April 1, 2023, AS Arbeitsschutz has been an official member of amfori BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative). This underscores our clear commitment to social responsibility along the global supply chain – beyond the minimum legal requirements. The amfori BSCI Code of Conduct provides an internationally recognized framework that commits companies and their partners to greater human rights, fair working conditions, and environmental protection.At the heart of this is continuous dialogue with our suppliers: Together, we work to optimize processes, strengthen social standards, and identify risks at an early stage. Progress is measured and documented in a transparent manner using independent audits and transparent criteria. Although we, as a medium-sized company, are not directly subject to the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG), we are already proactively aligning ourselves with its requirements and are committed to forward-looking implementation.

Thinking ahead together – facing the future responsibly
For us, sustainability is not a trend, but part of our corporate strategy. Projects such as our ISO 14001 certification, repeated silver rating by EcoVadis, and long-standing membership in amfori BSCI show that we don't just talk about responsibility – we consistently live it. Product labels such as NITRAS NOW also make ecological and social standards visible and comprehensible for our customers.
In addition, we are constantly developing our commitment - for example, by expanding circular concepts with GAIA circulair or by integrating our sustainability strategy even more deeply into corporate management.
The current sustainability report is only a snapshot: what matters is what we do with it. And we are ready to continue on this path consistently - step by step, with system, commitment, and genuine conviction.
